Reflexology Reflexology is a science that deals with the principle that there are reflexes in the feet and hands that correspond to all the parts of the body (glands, organs, etc.). A reflexologist stimulates these reflexes to assist the body in its natural healing. The treatment usually begins with a cleansing/relaxing foot soak. Primarily, I work on the feet and also include hand reflexology after the completion of the feet. I use a firm pressure always within the comfort level of my client. Many have commented on the "whole body" sensations and health responses during and subsequent to the work. Most people benefit from a series of sessions initially followed by regular monthly or weekly visits. Even with a single session, however, the health responses can be significant.
To begin the treatments I assess points on the spine to guide me as to which Dosha (or subtle energy) is in most need of balancing at the time of service. Dosha specific oils are used on the body and for Shirodhara. Tibetan Eye Rejuvenation - includes a Marma point series to calm the mind, abdominal massage, and cooling flax eye pillow placed on the eyes while the feet and hands are massaged with specific points addressed related to the eyes. An Ubtan mixture of sandalwood and barley flour cleanses the feet before they are rested on warm stones. Tibetan Shirodhara - to play a fine stream of oil (or other usually warm liquid) on the head. The 90 min Shirodhara includes these steps (the Tibetan Eye Rejuvenation) and then the fine stream of oil is allowed to flow on the forehead for 10-20 minutes. The Tibetans call this process psycho-spiritual massage. It truly is rejuvenation for mind and body.
